Toyota corolla fielder hybrid review in Kenya
What is W×B?
Originally it was a special specification car, but it was upgraded to catalog grade in March 2015 with a minor change. Equipment contents are as follows.
- Body color “Cool Bordeaux glass flakes” (manufacturer option)
- 16-inch aluminum wheels painted in black (manufacturer option)
- Smoke painted front upper grill
- Dot pattern front lower grill
- Bi-beam LED headlamps (black bezel)
- LED clearance lamp
- Tail lamp (with smoked paint and LED light-emitting line)
- Black (white stitching) or white synthetic leather seats
- White or black synthetic leather decoration (upper door trim/instrument panel)
- Piano black decorative leather-wrapped steering wheel
WxB has a high resale value, but the minimum turning radius is as large as 5.5m (HYBRID or HYBRID G is 4.9m), so there may be problems depending on the driver’s usage environment.
Evaluation and reviews of the Corolla Fielder Hybrid
Interior
Pros
- The seat is comfortable to sit on, and the lumbar support is firm, so you won’t get tired.
- The rear seats can be reclined.
- The long door handles are easy to grip.
- There is plenty of legroom in both the front and rear seats.
- The black-based interior has a high texture (door trim is leather)
- The texture of the steering wheel is also refined.
- The glove box has two levels.
- Luggage space capacity is 407 liters (with 5 passengers)
Luggage space capacity is the same as the petrol car.
Cons
- Seat heaters are a factory option.
- The black fabric seat collects dust easily.
- The headroom in the rear seats is a little tight.
- I am a little concerned about the presence of the battery under the rear seat.
- The dirt on the white seat belts of “WxB” stands out .
- No place for cards or sunglasses.
- The cup holder is far away and difficult to use.
- The cup holder in the door pocket is also difficult to remove.
- Since the position of the center console box is too far back, it is difficult to use the armrests.
- Even when the rear seats are folded down, they do not go completely flat.

- Eco-driving is easy with the tachometer
- Convenient steering switch
- The layout of each switch is organized and easy to use
- Driver’s seat equipped with automatic power window for all seats
Cons

- Lights on switches are dim
- Although it is an automatic air conditioner, the left and right independent temperature control is not possible.
- Poor stock speaker sound
- no light in glove box
- Luggage space lighting missing from ceiling
- no door courtesy lamp
- No speed sensitive door lock
Exterior
Cons
- Halogen headlamps are standard except for “WxB”
- There is no LED clearance lamp setting except for “W x B”
- halogen fog lights
Engine/fuel consumption
Pros
- City driving: 23km/L, Suburbs/Highway: 26~27km/h
- fast when motor driven
- Quiet switching between engine and motor
- CVT shifting is smooth
Cons
- The engine turns on the heating, and the fuel consumption worsens.
- There is no problem in normal use, but the power is insufficient and the acceleration is slow.
- Can’t handle slopes in eco mode
- It is painful when the engine is running and it is full of luggage or on a slope.
Driving performance/handling
Pros
- High straight line stability
- It is stable with little roll even on curves, making it easy to trace the target line.
- Minimum turning radius 4.9m
- 5 number size makes it easy to maneuver even on narrow roads
- Good visibility both forward and backward
- The door mirror position is appropriate and visibility is good
Cons
- “WxB” and “Aerotourer” have a minimum turning radius of 5.5m
- weak engine braking
- Since the foot brake is also weak, it is easy to become a cackling brake
- Since it is a CVT, there is no direct feeling when the accelerator is turned on.
- Lack of steering information
- Steering is too light even at high speeds
- The front edge of the bonnet is poorly cut off
Ride comfort/quietness
Pros
- It’s a little stiff, but it handles bumps well, so it’s comfortable to ride.
- The body has high rigidity, so the sound when the door is closed is good.
- quiet engine sound
The rear foot is a little more bouncing, so it’s wise not to go an inch up.
Cons
- Quietness is high, but I’m worried about road noise
Road noise can be improved by replacing the standard eco tires.
